The brand grew out of something quite personal. When the owner first came to Sóller, a question he had carried around for years answered itself: would I rather live by the sea, or in the mountains? The answer turned out to be surprisingly simple. Both. And that is exactly what makes this valley what it is.
Hardly anywhere in the Mediterranean brings so much together in so small a space. Between the sandy beach in the natural harbour and the peaks of the Serra de Tramuntana lie a few kilometres, and in between an old town built of honey-coloured stone, orange groves climbing the slopes, and a tram that has been running between the two for more than a hundred years. And then there is the coast itself: the only stretch of Mallorca that was never built up, protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011.
In the end that combination was the reason to move here for good. Out of the enthusiasm came the idea of opening this way of living to other people as well, not as a holiday complex but as a manageable number of apartments and houses you would happily live in yourself. That is how the Beach & Mountain Collection began.
And one more thing sets this valley apart from the rest of the island: apart from Palma, Sóller is the only holiday destination on Mallorca that stays open all year. Drive to the big resorts on the coast in January and you will find shuttered windows and empty promenades. Here the shops, restaurants and cafés stay open, the train and the tram keep running, the indoor pool is open and there is a market on Saturday as always, because this valley is a small town with a life of its own rather than a holiday resort. Sóller therefore has no classic season, but twelve months that each have a reason of their own.
Perhaps you have stayed with us before and already know what the view from the balcony looks like on that first morning. Perhaps someone who was here told you about it, or you found a card in the apartment pointing you to this page. However you arrived, something about this valley made you curious, or you would not be reading this.
Most people come for a week or two of holiday, and everything is here for it: the sea in the morning, the mountains in the afternoon, a table on the Plaça in the evening, and in between an apartment where you never feel like a guest in a hotel. And perhaps this time you are not thinking of a week of holiday at all. A growing number of our guests bring their work with them, set themselves up in the morning at the dining table or out on the terrace, and stay a few weeks longer. Desk in the morning, half an hour in the water at midday, the same Plaça in the evening. Everything in this valley lies so close together that you do not even need a car for it. Our apartments and houses are made for both. They are not hotel rooms; each has its own kitchen, its own living space, somewhere to work and, without exception, a balcony or a terrace.

Paula was born and grew up in Sóller. She knows the valley from childhood rather than from a guidebook: which cove is in shade by the afternoon and which one only in the evening, where you can still get a table without booking, which path is worth taking when there are clouds over the Puig Major, which day the market is on and the hour at which it is at its best. That kind of knowledge is in no portal. It only comes from being at home somewhere, and it is part of your stay.

A good many of the restaurants and cafés stay open through the winter, the indoor pool as well, and the climate stays mild. Some things are actually better outside the hot months: walking in the mountains is far more pleasant at fifteen degrees than at thirty, the hairpins over the Coll de Sóller belong to the road cyclists again in spring and autumn, and you can wander through the old town without looking for the shade. Then there are the colours the summer never shows you. The almond trees blossom in January and February, the oranges hang ripe in the groves through the winter, and with the sun low the mountains change their tone from hour to hour. Many guests come first for a fortnight, then extend to a month and keep working from here. If you want to stay, you do not have to wait for next summer.
